Meet our leaders and those who have been charged with shepherding this flock
Born in St. Ann, Jamaica, Rollington Gooden immigrated to Canada in 1993. His initial chosen profession was to be a Veterinarian, but sometimes the Lord leads us in an entirely different direction.
Brought up in a Christian home, and upon arriving in Canada, and having the basis of a strong Christian heritage, Gooden accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and decided to pursue ministry.
Pastor Gooden has a passion for excellence in ministry. Coupled with studying, teaching and preaching the word of God, his ministry aims to transform the lives of individuals by helping to instill in them the knowledge and hunger for the Word of God, and knowing their purpose in Christ. Pastor Gooden has served the Durham West Worship Centre for over 18 years in a variety of positions including Sunday School Teacher and as a Lay Minister.
Since 2004 he has been serving in the role of Christian Education Director, and in 2005 he was also appointed Associate Pastor of the Durham West Worship Centre. Pastor Gooden currently resides in Markham, Ontario, with his wife, Kay Gooden, along with his two children, Abigail, and stepson to Kay, Rollington, Jr.
Dwain Wellington Rattray
Born into a family of ministers, Dwain Wellington Rattray grew up in the church. He received the Lord Jesus as his personal saviour at age 12 and has been working in various ministry positions in Jamaica, the United States and Canada since then; including positions of Usher, Christian Education Teacher, Youth Ministry, and Evangelism. In 2012 Rattray began serving as the Youth Minister at Durham West Worship Centre.
Starting the thrust of his ministry in the United States where he lived for over 10 years, and now relocated to Canada, Pastor Rattray continues to be about the Lord’s work of soul winning. With a passion for young people and youth work, he continues to be a strong advocate for young people and strives to ensure the youth have a voice in the church. As a youth mentor, Pastor Rattray provides support and encouragement for young people and seeks to ensure youth are involved in a meaningful way in the life, mission and work of the church.
In his professional life, Rattray is a Writer, Editor, and Communication & Media Advisor. He has previously held various writing and editing positions in print and electronic media, and is involved in numerous other projects and community work. Among his duties, is Co-Executive Producer of the Let’s Talk Television Show, on YES TV, and Administrative Liaison to the National Bishop, Woodroe Thompson . Pastor Rattray also served as a member of the Board of Directors at Dr. Roz’s Healing Place—a crisis intervention center for assisting and empowering survivors of domestic violence.
Dwain Wellington Rattray has two children, and currently resides in Markham, Ontario, with his wife, Caroll.
